Marc Seymour founded Optimum Health Solutions in 2005. Before that, he spent nearly a decade as a strength and conditioning coach, working with NBA players and world-ranked tennis professionals. Get to know Marc, and you will find out why our clients come and see us.
The Optimum Beginnings
Growing up, all I wanted to do was play sport. Cricket, Australian Rules, soccer. Pursuing an Exercise Science degree was a natural fit.
I played first-grade cricket in Sydney for several years and accepted contracts to play league cricket in England. But I turned out to be an even better coach. My ability to spot technique errors and correct them quickly became my real strength.
At 24, I took an internship with the Houston Rockets NBA Basketball Team. I spent 12 months on staff as a Strength and Conditioning Coach. Over the next seven years, I worked with some of the best athletes in the world. That included NBA players Chris Anderson, Sam Cassell, Moochie Norris, Mark Bryant, Reggie Slater, Sean Kemp, and Rashad Lewis. I then worked with Andy Roddick (World No. 1 tennis) and Bob and Mike Bryan (World No. 1 doubles).
The combination of coaching experience, rehabilitation background, and a deep understanding of anatomy meant I could help athletes others could not.
Marc’s Vision
I opened the first Optimum studio in January 2005, within Wests Leagues Club in Ashfield, Sydney. Three years later, when I opened Optimum Rehab at Campbelltown Private Hospital, the vision shifted.
I could see that millions of Australians were struggling with chronic health conditions and had limited access to good support. That became the foundation for building a team that could change how Australians approached their health.
The company kept growing because communities kept asking us to come to them. We partnered with Tennis NSW, medical centres, and community organisations. We opened clinics when the community needed them.
Where Optimum Is Today
Optimum Health Solutions now has 14 clinics across NSW and Tasmania. We partner with outstanding practitioners and support them to deliver great care.
I’ve always believed in helping people get the best out of themselves. I’ve been doing that since I coached teenagers in cricket. Now I do it across a network of clinics that help Australians move better, live more independently, and manage their health long-term.
That’s what Optimum is about. And I’m proud of every person on the team who makes that possible each day.
